The fifth annual HCC Summer Winds tournament, a NEFApoints event, took place on a beautiful, clear but muggy day.  There was very little wind to speak of, but plenty of fast greens.  Forty-six players participated, including the largest contigent of Novice entrants we've ever had.  This was the last tournament to be played on the course's original configuration.  So fittingly, Davis Johnson -- one of the course designers -- triumphed in the Pro Grandmaster division with a remarkable 111.  In the Advanced division, Karl Molitoris -- the single entrant in HCC's very first tourney -- once again took the trophy with a 3-under 109.  In a stunning victory, Sam Thresher walked off with the Recreational title a full 8 strokes ahead of the runner-up.  There was no ace in this tourney, but Michael Ballestra won the closest-to-the-pin throw-off.

The tee for Hole 1 had to be moved forward about 10 feet to accomodate heavy construction.

Newcomer Thomas Bernier fires out of the rough on hole 10 as Phil and Brandon LaBranche look on.  Bernier would go on to win the Novice division.

Sam Thresher blasts a drive on tee 9, displaying the form and concentration that brought him his division championship.

Mike Rose makes a long uphill approach to the third pin.

Jeremy Thresher takes flight on the fourth tee.

Sunni Lyman, the sole entrant in the Women's division, drives off of 18 while Brad Ayotte, Keith Clark and Greg Cellilli watch.

Mike Saimond putts out on the rocky green of 16.

Karl Molitoris flings his trademark tomahawk on the 16th tee as Abel Rodrigues and Mike Morin watch and wonder just how he does that.

Tim Matusko drives from high up on the 15th tee.

Tyler Bernier putts out on 13 while Paul Bernier and Ed Faits watch.

This was the final tournament for the course's longest hole, the 535-foot par 4 hole 8.

Davis Johnson makes his approach on hole 4 as Rick Williams stands by.  They're two of the founding members of NEFA and still going strong.

Alan Thresher finishes up on hole 18 as Titan Bariloni and Rob Tatro observe.

Michael Ballestas triumphed in the closest-to-the-pin competition, winning $92 and a cookie.
