The fifth annual HCC Summer Winds tournament, a NEFApoints
event, took place on a beautiful, clear but muggy day. There was
very little wind to speak of, but plenty of fast greens.
Forty-six players participated, including the largest contigent of
Novice entrants we've ever had. This was the last tournament to
be played on the course's original configuration. So fittingly,
Davis Johnson -- one of the course designers -- triumphed in the Pro
Grandmaster division with a remarkable 111. In the Advanced
division, Karl Molitoris -- the single entrant in HCC's very first
tourney -- once again took the trophy with a 3-under 109. In a
stunning victory, Sam Thresher walked off with the Recreational title a
full 8 strokes ahead of the runner-up. There was no ace in this
tourney, but Michael Ballestra won the closest-to-the-pin throw-off. |
